Baby Henry {Salt Lake City Fresh 48 + Newborn Photographer}

Jacob & Sarah welcomed their first child into the world January 30th at the Intermountain LDS Hospital in the Avenues! Sarah is a fellow photographer, and I wanted her to sit back, relax and enjoy their first moments with their new son and let me capture them. Henry was a couple weeks late, and just as they were going to induce labor, he decided to make his grand entrance!

For those of you unfamiliar, a “Fresh 48” photo session is a special session at the hospital within the first 24-48 hours of a newborn’s life. This is a great option for families who want photos in the hospital, but not the whole labor or birthing process. It’s a lifestyle-type session, which captures the family meeting and greeting the new baby, as well as capturing the special and tiny details of the hospital and the mother & baby’s room.

Hannah & Jay {Salt Lake City Engagement Photographer}

Salt Lake City,couple,engagement,friends,love,snow,winter,

Funny story, I met Hannah (and Jay) through Instagram this year! We had been following each other and commenting back and forth here and there on each other’s photos. I loved that she always was adventuring! In August, we actually met. We went rock climbing at the gym and a few hikes, and we were fast friends.

She’s been engaged to her fiancé since last February, and needed her engagement photos done so we could work on her save the dates. She’s planning on getting married in January 2018 back in her home near Seattle, Washington. She and Jay love to go skiing and play in the snow, as well as camping and hiking during the warmer months. She was actually a ski instructor back in Washington!

When a big storm came through the canyons in December, we weren’t scared off by all of the snow dumping! When we arrived about halfway up Big Cottonwood Canyon, the “snow” was more like rain that melted instantly. So we did some shots in the tree cover and decided to travel up to the top of the canyon for real snow. We went to the Silver Lake area, which apparently turns into snowshoe & cross country skiing during the winter and requires a pass for entry. We took photos next to the building, and it turned out perfectly— a winter wonderland!

Hannah & Jay had a snowball fight, cuddled in the snow, and watched me fall face-first into the snow, camera and all! Oops!

Their “thing” after skiing is eating fries & drinking coffee, so we stopped at Silver Lake Lodge and took photos near their fireplace while Jay fed Hannah fries. When we were finally done, we took some photos of them snuggling in the cover of the lodge. It was a perfect, Hannah & Jay type of day!

Carlos {Salt Lake City Headshot Photographer}

Carlos found be via Instagram over the summer. In the fall, he reached out wanting to have professional photos done for his modeling portfolio. He’s originally from the Dominican Republic, but then moved to Florida — my home state! — and then to Salt Lake City, Utah for his master’s degree.

He wanted to be able to get a few different looks and outfits in for his shots, so we chose Wheeler Farm in Murray. It happened to be Election Day, so the parking lot was very busy but the actual grounds weren’t too populated. He’s such a fun-loving individual and he was a natural at modeling!

You can find him on his Instagram here!

Maze Family {Salt Lake City Family Photographer}

When Lisa contacted me about her family photography, she wanted something with mountain backdrops and close to home. I was able to find Granite Park in Sandy, Utah for her photos with her two older sons and husband. The younger one, Ethan was graduating high school and she wanted a few photos with his letterman jacket as well. They all had a great time, and were so laid back to work with!

It’s easy to capture when families are having fun and enjoying their time together, just like this family did! I was so happy to be able to schedule her photos on short notice while her boys were both off work.

Willden Family {Salt Lake City Family Photographer}

One of my favorite things about family session is allowing the family to choose places that are important to them as a family. For the Willdens, that’s the International Peace Gardens located in Salt Lake City near their home. They also wanted a dog friendly location since they wanted to bring their three rescue dogs for some of the photos as well. It was like a mini-extended family shoot since they have 5 children, 3 dogs, and 2 parents! Their friend took the dogs for the second half of the shoot so we could focus on the family portraits for the second half though.

I had never been to International Peace Gardens before I had talked to them before, but it’s a cute park that you can walk through all the different countries and the countries have themes that are displayed in the park. It felt like you had been transported somewhere other than Salt Lake because it was so different than other parks in the area.
